What a pleasure to stand in the foyer and watch the smiles and hear the laughter as patrons departed after enjoying two hours of top quality song ,dance and humour delivered by four very accomplished professionals in “Underdogs”. These guys are anything but underdogs and the show deserves to do very well. I thoroughly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good belly laugh. Definitely a must see show!!

The show on Wed was fantastic – we all loved it and hope to spread the word. It was a shame it was not a full house as the show was so good.

Congratulations well done – great night

Just loved Underdogs last night – haven’t enjoyed an evening at the theatre so much for a long time, wonderful to laugh out loud. The cast are truly ‘gentlemen of vaudeville’ and oh so talented, I gave them a standing ovation. Wishing this show the success it deserves,
    Valerie

I really enjoyed watching the play A MidSummers’ Night Dream. I went to see it with my grade, i loved how the actors (the guy who played puck(he was bold, kinda)) interacted with the audience. I thought he was hilarious! I mean he was a bit creepy but funny! The play was awesome and i loved watching it! Who was the little fairy supposed to be though?
P.S. I didn’t really like at the end where the guy was making out with his hand and how Hermia was pregnant, I found it creepy as Hermia was played by a guy……

Just wanted to let you know that was one of the best Shakespeares I’ve ever seen and definitely THE best Midsummer.

I went to see The Sum of Us last Thursday and absolutely loved it. Congratulations to the cast and crew for such an impressive performance. I also enjoyed it more than the movie.

I am bursting to thank the crew and actors for the wonderful performance I watched of the Sum of Us. I would see it again if I had a free night. It was a great performance and far better than the movie.

My wife and I ate with friends in the restaurant last Saturday night. I was thoroughly impressed by the play but definitely won’t waste my time eating in Sorlies again after shocking service and waiting an hour for one course which was overpriced and my meat was overcooked. Tried to talk to the waitress but they didn’t seem to care. Very unimpressed sorry.

Tuesdays with Morrie was wonderful, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The last three awful. I’ve just home from Catholic School Girls and it was WORSE than the previous 2 I saw. Will attend Underdogs and see how that is but have tickets to Motherhood: The Musical and the interviews/reviews I’ve seen say it’s another dud and I will not bother to attend.

I think you’ve missed the window of opportunity to pick up your game for many of your subscribers. It seems obvious that you are attempting to attract another type of audience with these plays and in the process loosing the audience you do have.

We have been Glen Street subscribers for about 5 years and generally see almost all the productions in the full season. This year we thought we’d give the whole lot a go. Tuesdays with Morrie: pretty good, well written, well acted, moving, something worthwhile to say. A Commercial Farce: not very funny, not much to say, slightly odd casting of the younger man, overall harmless but not worth the time. Turns: Great actors, reasonable points to make, pretty funny, generally worth seeing. Catholic School Girls: Stale, pointless points to make in 2011 even if it had some relevance in 1982, not funny, superficial, woefully overacted, best confined to the dustbin of theatrical history. Do the Glen Street programmers actually see the plays they propose presenting to (inflicting on) their subscribers? If so what were they thinking with this one?

Thank you for your feedback. We do appreciate you taking the time to pass on your comments. The program for 2011 was compiled with a view to presenting new works from emerging companies and directors. As such we have received a wide range of views on the season from our patrons. The restaurant is currently going through a transition with the recent arrival of a fabulous new chef. We hope that you will bear with us as we settle into this new working relationship.

What ever has happened to this theatre? The plays so far this season have all been duds and even the restaurant service has drastically become woeful. Pick up your game, Glen Street! Show us the wonderful local theatre you’ve always been!

Loved Tuesdays with Morrie, both cast members fab. Commercial Farce, slow but they tried hard. Turns was a NIGHTMARE, have seen Nancye Hayes do some great things in recent times, this wasn’t one of them. Reg needed to be reined in by a good director. I felt this was an extremely mean spirited piece of work that he wrote himself & didn’t do this still talented Aussie Icon justice.

Sorry , but this show was awful. It just did not work. Reg and Nancye were tired and past it. This is the first show we have seen this year as Glen St subscribers . We may rethink this in 2012.

  36. Colleen
    23.03.2011

Yes, well Turns was obviously written for Hayes & Livermore to show-case their obviously retained talents, but did they have to take so long about it? Boredom set in very early.

Last Thursday saw TURNS. We were given gift tickets to pick a show in 2011. Unfortunately we picked a DUD. We expected to enjoy two of Australia’s iconic actors star, but what a disappointment. Rated 2/5 generously.
We are regular supporters of this theatre but not sure which show to support next!

  38. Peter
    22.03.2011

Both performers are blueblood Ozzie stage people; truly professional. Reg was the legend we anticipated & Nancye was equally magnificent.

Saw TURNS on Tuesday, opening night at Glen Street, Theatre. Unfortunately, I could nor make head nor tail of it, the jokes were corny, old fashioned and just not funny. This is not a show for everyone and I was left bewildered by the end of the performance. Score: 2 out of 5
