Derek and Sandra are the disco couple who live inside Dave Warner's song "Mug's Game". Lately, hardly anyone plays it, and now they've heard Warner is about to quit music for good. So they set out to find him, from 1970s Perth to London, Surry Hills, Bali and finally into Warner's own head. In Search of the Suburban Boy is a comic, big-hearted new play by Dave Warner: Perth punk pioneer, frontman of Dave Warner's from the Suburbs and award-winning crime novelist. It's packed with more than twenty of his songs and Warner himself may or may not appear in the final scene.

Produced and directed by Ralph Kerle and presented in association with Manly Theatre Group, this staged reading plays the Glen Street Theatre main stage on 24 and 25 November 2026. Both performances are being recorded for broadcast on Radio Northern Beaches. Grab a seat early.
